William "Bill" A.  Cartier
William “Bill” A. Cartier, 88, of Enfield, died peacefully on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Evergreen Healthcare in Stafford. Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Bill was the son of the late Aime and Alice (Chauvin) Cartier. He was a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. Bill had resided in Enfield for fifty-eight years and was a communicant of the former St. Martha Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and took great pride in the maintenance of the church property. Bill was a manufacturing engineer with Pratt and Whitney for thirty-six years and retired in 1987. He enjoyed playing the accordion and piano and entertained professionally for many years. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-seven years, Rita (Morin) Cartier; his children, Bruce W. Cartier and his wife, Eileen of Stafford, Gary R. Cartier of Tennessee, and Donna C. Bedard and her husband, Mark of South Carolina; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Hathcock, Jonathan Bedard and Paul Bedard; his great grandchild, Parker Bedard and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Gregg A. Cartier. Family and friends will gather on Saturday, July 15, 2017 by 10:15 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels for a procession to St. Martha where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Bill’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, July 15, 2017 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
